Vocational Education and Training

Our VET program incorporates Workplace Learning which is all about learning in a workplace instead of a classroom. This is available to students in Years 11 and 12.

The Curriculum Manager can organise and supervise students while they are on Work placements, learning and developing the skills they need for future employment. Work placement also provides students an opportunity to experience a job or trade and see if they enjoy it. Work Placements as part of Endorsed Programs can also be used as substitute C grades for students to achieve their WACE.

School Based Traineeships: School-based apprenticeships and traineeships are Certificate II and III programs approved by industry to kick-start your career. They give school students who are generally at least 15 years of age the opportunity to start a traineeship or an apprenticeship as part of their school program. As a trainee or apprentice in one of these programs, you will go to school and, with the school’s approval, you and a guardian (if you are under 18) will sign a training contract with an employer in your chosen industry. This gives you the same employment and training conditions and responsibilities as other apprentices/trainees. The employer will pay you for the time you spend at work. You will do some of your training at a TAFE or private training provider and some at work. You may complete your traineeship while at school, but most apprenticeships will be completed after you leave school.

School Based Traineeships can be organised through the school Curriculum Manager.
