Academic Extension
The Extension classes are mixed Year 9 and 10 classes that are designed for above satisfactory students who are heading towards an ATAR pathway for Senior School.
These students need to be achieving above 60% consistently in either English, mathematics, Science of Humanities and Social Sciences. The students selected for these extension classes are believed to be capable of undertaking class work at an accelerated pace and with a deeper understanding of the curriculum, focusing on skills and understandings at an A/B grade level.
Students can be promoted into the Extension classroom from the General Year 9 and 10 class, based on high levels of achievement and motivation, while students can also be demoted from the Yr 9/10 extension class if they fail to maintain their high levels of achievement and motivation. Only students within the Extension classroom should be choosing ATAR courses in Year 11.
